What are the different types of pressure washer nozzles, and what are they used for?
Pressure washer nozzles, also known as spray tips or jets, come in various types, each designed for specific cleaning applications. The different types of pressure washer nozzles and their common uses are as follows:
0-Degree Nozzle (Red Tip): This nozzle delivers a concentrated and powerful jet of water in a narrow 0-degree spray pattern. It produces a pencil-thin stream of water and is used for intense cleaning tasks that require maximum impact, such as removing stubborn stains, paint, or graffiti from hard surfaces. Caution should be exercised while using this nozzle, as it can cause damage to delicate surfaces or create hazards due to its high impact force.
15-Degree Nozzle (Yellow Tip): The 15-degree nozzle creates a slightly wider fan-shaped spray pattern than the 0-degree nozzle. It provides a strong and focused stream of water, making it suitable for tasks that require higher pressure and precision, such as removing grime from concrete, brickwork, or heavily soiled areas.
25-Degree Nozzle (Green Tip): The 25-degree nozzle produces a wider fan-shaped spray pattern compared to the 15-degree nozzle. It balances the cleaning power with a wider coverage area, making it a versatile nozzle for general cleaning tasks. It is commonly used for cleaning fences, decks, sidewalks, siding, and other surfaces that require a moderate amount of pressure.
40-Degree Nozzle (White Tip): This nozzle provides a wide fan-shaped spray pattern that covers a large area. It delivers a gentle and less concentrated stream of water, suitable for more delicate surfaces or applications that require less pressure. It is commonly used for cleaning vehicles, windows, screens, or other sensitive surfaces where high pressure may cause damage.
Soap Nozzle (Black Tip): The soap nozzle, also known as a detergent nozzle, is specifically designed for applying cleaning solutions or detergents. It produces a low-pressure and wide spray pattern that allows for effective application and even distribution of soap or detergent. It is used for pre-treating surfaces before high-pressure cleaning or for general cleaning tasks where a foaming action is desired.

How do I clean a clogged pressure washer nozzle?
If you notice a decrease in water pressure or an irregular spraying pattern from your pressure washer nozzle, it may be clogged and needs cleaning. Here's how to clean a clogged pressure washer nozzle:
Turn off the pressure washer and remove the nozzle from the wand.
Use a small, pointed tool, such as a paper clip or safety pin, to carefully remove any debris or dirt from the nozzle tip.
Soak the nozzle in a cleaning solution for 30-60 minutes. You can use a commercial nozzle cleaning solution or make your own by mixing equal parts water and vinegar.
Rinse the nozzle with water and use the pointed tool again to ensure that all debris is removed.
Reattach the nozzle to the wand and test it to ensure it's working correctly.
If you are still experiencing low pressure or an irregular spraying pattern, the nozzle may be damaged and needs to be replaced. Regular cleaning of your pressure washer nozzle can help prevent clogs and prolong its lifespan.
